Steve Coleman lives in his hometown of Bangor, Maine, with his beautiful wife Ellie, and their beloved Black Lab, Connor.

At the age of 19, Steve lost the majority of his eyesight due to the rare optic nerve disease, Leber’s Optic Neuropathy. Through the struggles of losing his eye sight, Steve continued to stay busy and to enjoy life.  He has studied Karate since 1979 and taught it for many of those years.

Steve graduated from the University of Maine with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology and Physical Education with a concentration in developmental disabilities.  He put his degree to work immediately, teaching Physical Education at a local elementary school.  He has also been an instructor for the National Youth Sport Program at the University of Maine.

Steve worked for several years at the National Center for Student Aspirations at UMaine as a motivational speaker and as the director of the Fairmount Aspirations Program where he has provided direct mentoring for eligible students.

Steve now enjoys traveling and sharing his life with the wish to leave people with hope and inspiration.
